Daniele Roccato is considered as one of the most prolific and interesting solo bassist in Italian and European concert survey.
He was born in Adria (Rovigo - Italy) in 1969. He began his well-constructed musical education when he was seven studying violin and guitar followed by double bass under Federico Garberoglio’s guidance.
Before ending his studies he played as first double bass in the most important youth orchestras (Orchestre des jeunes de la Méditerranée, E.U.Y.O., Orchestra Giovanile Italiana, Orchestra Internazionale Alpe-Adria), winning some of the most relevant performance competions and giving his first double bass recitals.
He got his first class degree cum lode and honorable mention specializing in Italy, France and Germany. Afterwards he has started his contribution as first double bass in the most important Italian and international orchestras. At that stage he has performed under the guidance of conductors such as Temirkanov, Sawallisch, Giulini, Abbado, Chung, as well as for worldwide famous concert halls, recording for labels such as Deutsche Grammophon and BMG.
In the mid- 90s he started bounding his orchestra attendances in order to dedicate himself completely to his solo activity, gathering his efforts on both the traditional repertoire, contemporary compositions as well as on transcriptions.

Such concert activity leaded him to hold several duo concerts together with piano, as soloist together with the orchestra (Classic FM Radio of Sofia, Stravinsky Chamber Orchestra, La Camerata Musicale, Orchestra da Camera Malipiero, Orchestra Sinfonica di Perugia, etc.), and “a solo”.
He has been invited to play as a soloist in the most important Italian concert halls and theatres (Rome: Parco della Musica, Central Stadium Foro Italico, Museo degli Strumenti Musicali, Turin: Auditorium Museo dell’Automobile, Perugia: Teatro Morlacchi, Bologna: Teatro Comunale, Padova: Auditorium "Pollini", Pompei: Teatro Grande, ect…) as well as for prestigious international concert institutions in Europe, America, Northern Africa and Asia.
In 2007 he was asked to perform in broadcast live for in “La stanza della Musica” for RadioTre, where he exhibited some of his recent transcription and piano and bass composition.
He has recorded for both television and radio. He has cut for Velut Luna and On Classical labels.
Author of first ever performances. Several other musicians dedicated their compositions to him. Furthermore he has also presented the public personal transcriptions some of which he has also realized the edition for.
He founded the TrisTango (bandeon, double bass, piano) with a new kind of double bass performance: violin part, sonorities and ethnic atmospheres.
improvisation in which different genres merge: the very same music language he has then used for Trio Afropea (double bass and live electronics, vibraphone, percussion)
Such eclectic attitude has brought him to realize projects in which he has achieved to merge his own classical and contemporary experience together with pop music (Lucio Dalla, Tosca, etc..) theatre (David Riondino, Sebastiano Lo Monaco) and jazz (Saverio Tasca, Franco Piana, Richard Galliano).
He now holds three year specialization course for “Accademia Internazionale delle Arti di Roma” and summer master classes in the International Festival Voces Intimae in Paola (CS) and he is often invited to teach in academic and university master classes and workshops in Europe and South America.
He holds double bass chair in the Conservatoire of Perugia where he also teaches in specialization courses.
He plays a 1946 Gaetano Pareschi's Double Bass and bows built by Giovanni Lucchi.
He has been living in Rome during the last few years.
